An Alternative Method to Compute the Bit Error Probability of Modulation Schemes Subject to Nakagami-m Fading

چکیده
This paper presents an alternative method for determining exact expressions for the bit error probability (BEP) of modulation schemes subject to Nakagami-m fading. In this method, the Nakagami-m fading channel is seen as an additive noise channel whose noise is modeled as the ratio between Gaussian and Nakagami-m random variables. The method consists of using the cumulative density function of the resulting noise to obtain closed-form expressions for the BEP of modulation schemes subject to Nakagamim fading. In particular, the proposed method is used to obtain closed-form expressions for the BEP of M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM), M-ary pulse amplitude modulation (M-PAM), and rectangular quadrature amplitude modulation (I × JQAM) under Nakagami-m fading. The main contribution of this paper is to show that this alternative method can be used to reduce the computational complexity for detecting signals in the presence of fading.

متن کاملBit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)
In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...

We rst study the capacity of Nakagami multipath fading (NMF) channels with an average power constraint for three power and rate adaptation policies. We obtain closed-form solutions for NMF channel capacity for each power and rate adaptation strategy. Results show that rate adaptation is the key to increasing link spectral eeciency. We analyze therefore the performance of constant-power variable...

The end-to-end performance of multibranch dual-hop wireless communication systems with nonregenerative relays and equal gain combiner (EGC) at the destination over independent Nakagami-m fading channels is studied. We present new closed form expressions for probability distribution function (PDF) and cumulative distribution function (CDF) of end-to-end signal to noise ratio (SNR) per branch in ...

Channel adaptive M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) schemes have been developed to provide higher average link spectral efficiency by taking advantage of the timevarying nature of wireless fading channels. Much of the earlier work on such schemes uses the assu...
